Let's Fight Germs!

Let's Talk Germs.

No one likes Germs including me but they are a fact of life and there are many ways you can fight germs in your restaurant.  To fight germs we need to know where they are and things we can do to combat them.

It is a challenge in today's world to keep your establishment clean but it is very important.  Whether you are a sit down restaurant, fast food take-out or just have a breakroom cleanliness is very important to your business.  Having a clean business cuts down on absenteeism as well as builds loyalty and trust in your employees and your customers.

How can you keep your business germ free?  There are many things you can do.  We will just start with two ways today.  Sanitizing Towels make sure you are truly sanitizing when you clean.  Sertun Sanitizing Towels actually turn color when they stop working.  So your employees know exactly when to rinse the towel again.  The second way that we can make it obvious we care about peoples health is by using Single Serve Cutlery Dispensers.  They are the ultimate hygienic solution and image booster.

10 Places You Germs Are Hiding In Your Restaurant

1.  The Buffet

They are a breading ground for germ transmission, particularly if food is kept warm, the perfect temperature for bacteria-including E.Coli, salmonella and norovirus- grow.

2.  Menus

Bacteria found on menus can cause staph infections, strep throat and other infections.

3.  Bathroom Door Handles

A 2005 study found that 18% of people do not wash their hands after using the bathroom, leaving behind germs on door handles.

4.  Bathroom Faucet

I don't know anyone who isn't concerned with the cleanliness of a restaurant when they are about to eat there.  That is probably why our Single Serve Cutlery Dispensers are one of our most popular products.  These are perfect for Schools because they can easily be placed on the counter right next to a napkin dispenser.

5.  Glasses

The rims of glasses used on restaurants are a common site for germs often because waiters carry them with their fingers inside the the glasses.

6.  Table/Seats

Restaurant tables and seats are a hotbed for germs and bacteria.  Seats in particular are often not sanitized after use. Rather, they are wiped with rags that spread germs and bacteria including those from hands and diapers.

7.  Ketchup Bottles

Another essential restaurant item, ketchup bottles are often refilled but are rarely cleaned with an antibiotic spray.

8.  Soap Dispensers

Hands contaminated with fecal bacteria will then contaminate soap dispensers.

9.  Salt & Pepper Shakers

A staple in every restaurant, salt and pepper shakers are used often but rarely cleaned.

10.  Lemon Slices

A 2007 study published in The Journal of Environment Health Found that 69.7 percent of lemon slices carried various microorganisms such as E.Coli - the bacteria that can cause severe food poisoning - and other fecal bacteria.
